I’ve thought about your comment here a bit. I think the meaning is that quantification has serious costs, and if it does, you’re correct. An industrial, entrepreneurial academia is not the image of academia that I fell in love in when I was young.

Thanks Dan for your thoughts. Although I may not have thought about it in those clarity of terms, you are probably correct about my meaning.
As far as I can figure out, Marxism is a distributive network, which corporations, academia and entrepreneurs love, because that is where their customers are, and where progress would probably go without the Old Boys you talk about.
Quantifying in such a way does have costs, but I believe, because of 5GW, the costs are just not that serious.
